Bhubaneswar: At least 23 districts of Odisha will experience thunderstorm with gusty wind on Wednesday, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The national weather agency stated in a mid-day bulletin that under the influence of an east-west trough running from Punjab to Assam across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and sub-Himalayan West Bengal, there will be thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph will occur at one or two places in most of the coastal and southern districts and some parts of interior north and western districts with heavy rainfall at some places.
As the condition will prevail for five days up to May 9, the day temperature in these districts will come down appreciably.
In view of the thunderstorm and gusty surface wind, IMD has issued a yellow warning for the following districts.
May 5
Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Boudh and Rayagada.
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore.
May 6
Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Deogarh.
May 7
Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Kandhamal and Boudh.
May 8
Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.
May 9
Coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal.
