TMC Leader Attacks PM Modi: ‘ISRO Now BJP’s 2024 Campaign Tool’

New Delhi: On a day when Narendra Modi met the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) team behind Chandrayaan-3’s successful soft landing on the Moon, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra launched a scathing attack on the Prime Minister and his party for making it a campaign tool for next year’s Lok Sabha elections.

“ISRO is now BJP’s 2024 campaign tool. Every mission will be used to whip up nationalistic frenzy before elections,” Mahua posted on X.

Taking a jibe at the saffron party, the Lok Sabha MP from West Bengal’s Krishnanagar further wrote: “Bhakt & troll army working 24-7 to package decades of Indian scientific research as Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai magic.”

The Prime Minister flew straight to Bengaluru on Saturday after his Greece visit to meet ISRO Chairman S Somanath and the other scientists in person.

Modi, who was in South Africa to attend the BRICS summit on the day (August 23) Chandrayaan-3 landed on the Moon, had watched the live telecast of the historic event from Johannesburg and also addressed the nation.

On landing in Bengaluru earlier today, Modi said at the HAL airport that he could not control himself as he was not in the country. “But I decided to visit Bengaluru first and meet our scientists right after returning to India,” he said.

The TMC leader sought to call out the BJP and Modi’s poll tactics.

“Wake up, India. And no, I am not anti-national… Yes, ISRO has a lander on the moon. Not the first time too. May we remind BJP that Narendra Modi has not landed on the moon. Nor has BJP IT Cell produced the research behind Chandrayaan. Just saying,” Mahua wrote in another tweet.
