Islamabad: Another Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), was reportedly found dead under mysterious circumstances on Friday.
Ismail Ahmad was known to be a close associate of terror mastermind Hafiz Saeed. He served on LeT’s core committee and was reportedly involved in plotting attacks against India, including operations aimed at Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistani authorities have not issued an official statement, but unconfirmed reports suggest Ahmad was discovered with gunshot wounds in a remote area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, echoing the modus operandi of recent hits, as reported by Mathrubhumi English.
His death comes a day after India celebrated the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, in which terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoJK – including those of the LeT – were targeted.
This was in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22, 2025, in which 26 innocents were massacred. LeT terrorists were involved in the attack.
Last month, Sheikh Yusuf Afridi, a senior commander of the LeT was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in what authorities suspect was a targeted killing.
Afridi was ambushed by armed assailants who opened fire at close range, leaving him with no chance to escape. He sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot.
In March, LeT commander Bilal Arif Salafi was reportedly shot and stabbed to death by unidentified gunmen inside Markaz Taiba in Muridke, Pakistan. The attack took place moments after Eid prayers.
