Mumbai: Yash’s much-awaited ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ has started generating buzz following its first reviews, with early reactions praising the film’s bold and dark treatment.

Director Geetu Mohandas has also earned appreciation for her distinctive vision, while Yash’s intense avatar has emerged as one of the major talking points among viewers.

An X user who watched the film during its first-day-first-show screening on Wednesday hailed it as an “absolute masterpiece.”

The user described Yash’s film as “bold” and “beautifully dark”, while praising the performances of the ensemble cast, including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth.

“Toxic Movie Review: My mind is BLOWN! Geetu Mohandas has crafted an absolute masterpiece—a bold, beautifully dark, and visually stunning world. And Yash? 👑 The man’s screen presence is un-freaking-real! Add in powerhouse performances from Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, and Rukmini Vasanth, and you get cinema at its peak. 🎬✨,” the user wrote.

However, reactions on X were not entirely unanimous, with several viewers pointing out that the film’s first half feels weak.

On the other hand, some users disagreed with the criticism and hailed the Yash-starrer as a “blockbuster in loading.”

Ahead of its theatrical release, details about the plot of ‘Toxic’ reportedly emerged through the film’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certificate.

According to the official CBFC synopsis, the Yash-led film centres on a gangster grappling with questions of loyalty and morality while seeking personal redemption in post-independence Goa, a backdrop marked by violence and jealousy.

The film’s official plot synopsis states, “A gangster navigates the complexities of loyalty, morality, and the struggle for personal redemption in a post-independence Goa where violence and jealousy reign. With its atmospheric world, brutal action sequences, and morally conflicted characters, the film explores the price one must pay for love and for finding redemption amidst the darkness.”

‘Toxic’ has been certified ‘A’ by the CBFC and has a runtime of around three hours and 14 minutes. The highly anticipated Yash-starrer, which faced multiple delays, finally hit theatres on August 26, 2026.
