Trade Licence: BMC Ropes In Agency To Identify Defaulters In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In order to identify the traders carrying out their business without the mandatory licence, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has signed an agreement with Sparrow Software Pvt Ltd.

Following the order of BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Choudhary to conduct a survey of traders not having trade licence in the municipal limits, Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Srimanta Mishra facilitated the process of finalising the agency through RFP.

The agency will complete the survey to identify traders who are running business without obtaining trade licence within a month. It will collect ward-wise information with location details and related information. After the agency submits its report, the BMC will take necessary actions to regularise the process of enforcing the mandate.

Mishra signed the agreement on behalf of BMC while Subrat Kumar Dey represented the Sparrow Software Pvt Ltd, a BMC felease stated.

According to BMC sources, more than 50,000 business units are functioning under its jurisdiction at present. But around 13,000 business units have obtained the licenses causing loss of revenue to the public exchequer.
