Trade Unions Observe 12-Hr Bandh In Balasore
Balasore: Protesting the deteriorating law and order situation in Balasore district, the trade unions observed a 12-hour dawn to dusk bandh in the district on Saturday.
Most of the shops, markets and other business establishments kept their shutters down while vehicles stayed off the roads. Train services, however, remained normal. As a mark of protest, the agitators staged road blockades at various places.
The district Congress and several civil society organisations extended their support to the bandh.
“The district administration should take immediate measures to check incidents of crime including loot and robbery in and around Balasore town. We demand a proactive policing to prevent crimes from taking place”, an agitator said.
