Bhubaneswar: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Odisha on June 20, the Commissionerate Police has issued a traffic advisory to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.

PM Modi will attend a public event at Janata Maidan, commemorating the completion of one year of the Mohan Majhi government in the state, and participate in a roadshow from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) to the venue.

“Arrangements have been made to host a gathering of more than one lakh people at Janata Maidan. The Prime Minister will arrive late in the afternoon on June 20 and proceed to Janata Maidan in a roadshow. The meeting will be held at Janata Maidan. A few achievements will be showcased through video graphics during the event…,” Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari had earlier told the media.

State BJP President Manmohan Samal said that Modi will arrive at the airport at 3.40 pm. “From there, he will proceed through a grand roadshow. We will have a cultural welcome. The Odisha Vision Document-2036 will be unveiled… Everyone from the Vidhan Sabha is invited. It will be a massive celebration.”

The roadshow may cause traffic disruptions from 3 pm to 6 pm, or until the event concludes, along routes including Airport Square, Capital Hospital Square, AG Square, Raj Bhawan Square, Power House Square, 120 Battalion Square, Shastri Nagar Square, Behera Sahi Square, Jaydev Vihar Square, XIMB Square, and NALCO Square.

Commuters have been advised to avoid these areas and plan alternate routes.

In view of security concern of VIP/WIPS and to ensure better regulation and free flow of traffic in the interest of general public, the following restrictions and diversions will be imposed on June 20:

From Nandankanan: Via NALCO Square – Kalinga Hospital Road with similar parking arrangements as above.

From Puri: Kalpana Square – Raj Mahal – Sishu Bhawan – Capital Hospital Square. Parking from Sishu Bhawan to Capital Hospital.

Designated Parking Areas

Different parking areas have been designated  for two-wheelers, cars, and buses:

Behera Sahi to Nicco Park

Swadhinata Sangrami Ground

Kalinga Stadium

Salia Sahi Jatra Padia

JK Paper Lane to Shyama Dham (VIP Parking)

A separate space has also been allocated for media parking near NISER.

From Khurda to Cuttack: Not allowed via Bhubaneswar. Diverted from Pitapalli Square via Chandaka Square.

From Cuttack to Khurda: Diverted from Balikuda Square via Trishulia Square and Pitapalli.
