Bhubaneswar: With Hockey Men’s World Cup scheduled to kick off on November 28 at Kalinga Stadium in Odisha capital, the Commissionerate Police have issued traffic guidelines to ensure smooth movement of vehicles during the mega event.
For the parking of four-wheelers and two-wheelers, eight places have been designated in the city. Barring Janata Maidan, where parking is free, people have to pay a parking fee of Rs 50 for a four-wheeler and Rs 25 for two-wheeler in the remaining lots.
For parking of four-wheelers, the Commissionerate Police has identified the Old AG Colony ground in Shastri Nagar, Durga Puja ground at Nayapalli and the IDCOL ground near Hotel Crown.
Besides, the two-wheelers can be parked near the four-wheeler parking place at the Old AG Colony ground in Shastri Nagar, the ground at the Behera Sahi in Nayapalli near the Gate no-2 of the Kalinga Stadium and the Ravan Podi ground at Nayapalli. Provision has been made for parking of the four-wheelers and two-wheelers alongside the Nico Park road, where the vehicle owners will have to pay the parking fee as mentioned above.
According to the guidelines, people coming from Nayapalli and Khandagiri can park their four-wheeler at Nayapalli Durga Puja ground and IDCOL ground near Hotel Crown. Similarly, people in two-wheeler from the same direction can park the vehicle at Ravan Podi ground and walk by foot to the stadium.
People coming from Nandankanan area can park their vehicle at Janata Maidan and walk by foot to the stadium. Provisions of Mo Bus service have been made to take the people from Janata Maidan to the Kalinga Stadium and the City Festival venue at the Unit-III Exhibition Ground.
People coming from Raj Bhawan and Sachivalaya Marg area will park their four-wheeler at the Old AG Colony ground and two-wheeler at Behera Sahi ground and walk by foot to the stadium.
People coming from Cuttack will have to pass through the service road near Satsang Vihar and arrive at Janata Maidan via VSS Nagar, Sainik School and Kalinga Hospital Square. After parking their vehicle, they can avail Mo Bus shuttle service to reach Kalinga Stadium.
However, vehicles that have been provided with passes, can park their vehicle at the parking space inside the stadium.
To avoid traffic rush, alternative routes have been made.
As decided, there will be no movement of vehicles from Behera Sahi to Jayadev Vihar. Two check points have been set up at Nico Park Square and Shastri Nagar Square. Vehicles coming from the Power House Square would be diverted to Sachivalaya Marg via Patel Marg. However, the rules will not be applicable for Mo Bus, ambulance vans and the vehicles carrying the hockey players and the staff. Besides, locals of Behera Sahi will be allowed to travel to Behera Sahi Square.
Vehicles coming from Nandankanan will be diverted to Acharya Vihar Square via Kalinga Hospital Square and Sainik School Square. Besides, arrangements have been made to divert the vehicles coming from Jayadev Vihar to Acharya Vihar via the service road of NH-16. However, the Mo Bus, ambulance vans and the vehicles carrying the hockey players and the staffs will be allowed to ply on both the routes between Jayadev Vihar and Behera Sahi.
For the vehicles coming from Acharya Vihar to Jayadev Vihar on NH would be diverted from Acharya Vihar Square via Sainik School Square and Kalinga Hospital Square. The rules are not applicable for the persons having vehicle pass, Mo Bus, ambulance vans and the vehicles carrying the hockey players and the staff.
Arrangements have been made to allow the vehicles of the people living near the Old AG Colony area from the Nico Park area to their place of stay.
People carrying the stadium entry pass and tickets will be allowed to travel from Nico Park Road to Behera Sahi Square.
The vehicles of the VVIPs, VIPs, media, and the match officials would be parked inside the stadium premises. The entry pass for these vehicles has to be affixed on the front glass. Vehicles having no entry pass will not be allowed to park inside the parking space in the stadium while people carrying the pass having no valid registration number will not be allowed to enter the stadium.
Any person found parking vehicle in no-parking zone will be slapped with a hefty penalty.
