Bhubaneswar: The second-phase cyber crime training programme of Odisha Police began at Police Bhawan here on Friday.

The programme aims at creating a pool of trained cyber experts, who can deal with such crimes.

A total of 200 police officers and menwill be imparted extensive training by experts from outside the state, according to an official release.

This three-phased programme is being organised in collaboration with the UNICEF with focus on cyber offences against children, especially girls. The first-phase of the programme was held in June.

Odisha has four functional cyber police stations at Cuttack, Rourkela, Sambalpur and Berhampur and the police are implementing multi pronged strategy to deal with the increasing trend of cyber crime.

DGP Dr RP Sharma asked his officers to register cases related to cyber crime freely. He also emphasised on continuous learning and updating of skills.

Social media platforms would also be effectively used to generate maximum impact across different cross sections of the society, he added.
