Travel To Turkey: Specific Travel Restrictions For International Travelers

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced many changes on international travelling. Travelling during post-Covid-19 has some restrictions that you have to sort out before hopping on a plane. These restrictions measures were put in place to curtail the spread of the virus.

Do you hold a Turkey visa for Indians already? Then, you must pay adequate attention to these new restrictions and requirements. However, take into consideration that these restrictions are temporary and may change in the future.

The following are the latest instructions all potential visitors of Turkey must take note of;

Restrictions of some departure points

The Turkey government is trying to curb the spread of Covid-19. It has banned flights from countries with a high rate of Covid-19 pandemic. As of June 20, 2021, flights from Brazil, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and South Africa have been restricted from entering the country.

This restriction does not necessarily mean they are banning people from the country. Tourists or visitors from these countries can use other departure points as long as they meet the other requirements and have a Turkey e-visa.

Country-based restrictions

As of June 1, 2021, there are new restrictions based on countries. These restrictions do not ban people from entering Turkey. However, you must meet certain conditions before entering the country.

People from countries such as Afghanistan, Brazil, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan that have stayed in these countries for the last 14 days must submit a negative PCR test. You must have taken this test not more than three days before arrival in Turkey. Such visitors are also expected to follow a 14 days quarantine as determined by the Turkey government.

Visitors from countries such as the United Kingdom, Egypt, Singapore, and Iran must submit a negative PRC test. You must have taken the test not less than three days before arrival in Turkey. Quarantine is not mandatory for people in this category.

Vaccination Certificate

Visitors from other countries aside from the countries mentioned above need a vaccination certificate. The certificate must indicate that the person was vaccinated no less than 14 days before entering Turkey.

People who have recovered from the virus in the last six months can also present a recent vaccination certificate. Consequently, such a person does need to be quarantined or submit a PCR test result.

Finally, visitors from other countries aside UK, Singapore, Egypt, and Iran must do a PCR test on arrival. The test result must show negative before the person will be allowed to continue their journey. If the result is positive, the person will have to follow Turkey’s Ministry of Health Covid-19 guidelines.

Prevention is better than cure. The Turkey government has taken necessary precautionary steps against the spread of the Covid-19 virus. The government restricted certain countries from flights, including India.

Holders of a turkey visa for Indians must find alternative ways of entering Turkey. They can visit other departure points if they meet the requirements and the new restrictions’ guidelines.
