Bhubaneswar: In a shocking development, a tribal youth was allegedly murdered at a village in Odisha’s Koraput district on Sunday under suspicion of sorcery.
Even a whip was allegedly issued in the village to keep the incident a secret. However, the incident came to light on Monday after someone leaked the barbaric act. The deceased has been identified as Shiba Minyaka of Jharapa village under Bandhugaon Police Station in Koraput district.
As per information, a woman identified as Jangama Minyaka in Jharapa village died on Sunday. But her family members and some locals blamed Shiba for her untimely death. They alleged that he resorted to witchcraft to kill Jangama.
Infuriated villagers attacked Shiba and murdered him. But that was not all. They cremated both Jangama and Shiba together and issued a whip in the village not to reveal the act to outsiders.
After the incident was highlighted by the media, local police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation, sources said.
