Mumbai: Actor Ankita Lokhande recently became a target of trolls after posting photos from her Abu Dhabi vacation with husband Vicky Jain.
In some of the pictures, she was seen wearing a hijab, which triggered mixed reactions online and led to trolling from a section of netizens.
Amid the backlash, many of her fans came out in support of her, criticising the negativity and defending the actor’s personal choice.
On Thursday, Ankita shared a carousel post in which she was seen wearing a hijab in more than one picture during her Abu Dhabi vacation.
“Just a little Abu Dhabi love from my camera roll. Exploring, laughing and making memories,” she captioned the pictures.
“Why is she wearing a hijaab?”, asked one social media user.
Another wrote, “Is she Muslim???”
As the negative posts grew, Ankita’s fans noted that she had shared several photographs without the hijab also.
One commented, “If Hindus want to be secular, ok. If they don’t then that’s okay too.”
Another shared, “How abt minding your own damn business?! If you don’t know the rules of this mosque better shut up and stop shoving your negativity regarding religions everywhere.”
“Bro she is not showing whether she is secular or not…its compulsory there,” one wrote.
Another person posted, “She is not promoting Muslim culture. she is enjoying the beautiful monument and for your statement about hijab most girls cover their head and face cz of summer heat so are they all promoting Islam??”

Ankita rose to fame with her widely loved role in Ekta Kapoor’s popular sitcom ‘Pavitra Rishta’.
She also featured in films like ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ and ‘Baaghi 3’.
On the personal front, Ankita began dating businessman Vicky in 2019 after her much-discussed split with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Vicky, who is from Bilaspur, remained a strong support system for Ankita through different phases of her life. The couple got married in a grand ceremony in December 2021.
