Dhenkanal: An elderly man was killed by a tusker at a village in HIndol area of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as 75-year-old Shikhar Sahu of Bangu village under Hindol sub-division.
According to sources, Shikhar and his grandson Suryakant Sahu had gone out to answer nature’s call in the early hours when they were attacked by a wild tusker. While Satya managed to flee, Shikhar was trampled by the elephant.
After Satya raised an alarm, villagers rushed to the spot and found Shikhar’s body lying in a pool of blood with multiple injuries. Later, local police and forest department officials reached the spot and sent Shikhar’s body for post mortem, sources added.
