Two Killed, 16 Injured In Separate Road Accidents In Odisha’s Ganjam
Ganjam: One person died and 12 others sustained injuries in two separate road mishaps in the district on Thursday.
In the first incident, a private bus overturned after the driver lost control over the vehicle on Kulangi-Kaliaguda road under Gangapur police station.
According to sources, the bus was on its way to Bhanjanagar from Sorada carrying more than 30 passengers. While trying to save a biker who was driving in an unruly manner, the bus driver lost control over the vehicle. As a result, the bus overturned on the roadside injuring 12 passengers, they added.
On being informed, Fire personnel reached the spot and rescued the injured persons. They were admitted to a hospital in Bhanjanagar for primary treatment. Gangapur police have started an investigation into the incident.
In the other accident, driver of a private bus died after an auto-rickshaw hit him at Digapahandi.
According to sources, the bus was on its way to Chikiti from Bhubaneswar. The driver, a resident of Nayagarh district, parked the vehicle on roadside to attend nature’s call.
While he was standing on the roadside, the auto-rickshaw hit him from behind and he died on the spot. Four passengers travelling in the auto-rickshaw were also injured.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured persons.
