Two More Detained In Odisha’s Patnagarh Mass Murder

Balangir: Police on Saturday detained two more persons in connection with the alleged brutal murder of six members of a family at Sanarpada village under Patnagarh police limits in Odisha Balangir district on November 10 night.

A day after the incident, the deceased, Bulu Jani’s five sons—Bikash, Saroj, Feroz, Srilal and Samir—living at a slum near the railway station in Bhubaneswar, arrived at their village and identified the two persons, detained earlier in this case, as Bhola and Siba. They told the police that the duo had an altercation with their parents and suspected their involvement in the murder.

The incident came to light when the neighbours knocked on the door of Bulu Jani on November 11 morning. When he did not open the door, they peeped through the window and found all six family members draped in blankets. Suspecting foul play, they called the police.

The police, in course of the investigation, came to know that Santaram, the eldest son of Bulu Jani, was murdered in Kotpad area in Koraput district last year.

Meanwhile, police are on the hunt for the family members staying near the house of Bulu Jani. The villagers have told the police that the family had left the village a day before the murder.
