Ahmedabad: Uber announced its plan to set up its first data centre in India in partnership with the Adani Group. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi made this announcement during his visit to Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
“Great to meet @gautam_adani in Ahmedabad this morning and build on our existing partnership with the Adani group,” Khosrowshahi said in a post on X.
“As India fast emerges as a leading innovation hub for Uber, we are setting up our first data centre in the country with the Adani Group to test and deploy our tech,” he added, noting that the facility is expected to be ready later this year, as reported by CNBC News18.
According to Khosrowshahi, the investment will help the company “build at scale — from India, for the world.”
The move marks a significant expansion of Uber’s technology infrastructure in India, one of its fastest-growing markets, and comes amid rising investments by global technology firms in India’s AI and cloud ecosystem.
The Uber CEO is currently on a multi-day visit to India and has been meeting government officials and industry leaders to discuss the company’s long-term plans in the country. He also met finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and other ministers during the trip.
Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) had stated in January 2026 that the company will invest over Rs 5,000 crore in a 100 MW data centre, which would be powered by renewable energy, over the coming 5-7 years. AEL will work closely with local MSMEs and start-ups to develop a globally competent supplier base for the project. It would provide employment, both direct and indirect, to 600 people, Business Line reported.
