UGC grants autonomous status to Sarang IGIT

Dhenkanal: The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India granted autonomous status to Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) at Sarang in Dhenkanal district on Thursday.

The autonomous status has been granted for a period of ten years during which the college authorities can prepare syllabi, conduct examinations and issue certificates to the students.

These were earlier managed by Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT).

Established in 1982, IGIT is the second technical institute in the state to have been granted autonomous status by UGC after Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla.
