As per the order, Khalid’s interim bail will be effective from December 23 and he will have to surrender on December 30.

Khalid, who has been charged under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act over allegations of ‘larger conspiracy’ to provoke riots, has been in prison since September 2020.

A Delhi court earlier this month acquitted Khalid and United Against Hate member Khalid Saifi in one of the cases linked to the 2020 Delhi riots. Though the two were granted bail in this case, they are still behind bars in connection with other cases.

Two months ago, Khalid was denied bail by Delhi High Court in the 2020 riots case.

The high court had observed that the protests against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and north-east Delhi riots were prima facie orchestrated at various meetings attended by Khalid. The court had added that allegations against Khalid are prima facie true.
