Meerut: A momo date with his alleged girlfriend landed a married man in major trouble in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, after he was caught by his wife.
The man attempted to flee with his wife hanging on to the car’s bonnet, following which he was charged with attempt to murder and arrested.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening when Mayank was enjoying momos with a woman named Mahi. Both were sitting inside the car.
Mayank’s wife Sunita spotted them together and enraged by the betrayal, began banging on the car’s windows.
Panicking at the sudden confrontation, the man locked the car doors from the inside and attempted to flee the scene, as reported by NDTV.
To prevent him from fleeing, Sunita stepped in front of the vehicle and lay across the bonnet. Instead of stopping, Mayank accelerated and drove off with her clinging to the hood for nearly 100 meters.
Passersby intervened after they heard Sunita screaming: “Bhaiya bachaiyo… bhaiya bachao” (“Brother, save me… Brother, help”). They intercepted the car and forced Mayank to stop.
Sunita registered a formal complaint after the incident, accusing her husband of assault, dowry harassment, and infidelity. Taking cognisance of the incident, the police registered a case of attempted murder against Mayank.
“Following a verbal altercation, the man attempted to run over his wife with the intent to kill her. Taking cognisance of the case, we have filed a case,” Sangram Singh, Circle Officer, Kotwali, said.
Both Mayank and Mahi have been arrested. Additionally, the vehicle involved in the crime, a Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, has been seized. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
