Bhubaneswar: An upcoming actress was allegedly raped by an actor during shooting of a video album on the outskirts of the city.
According to sources, the 17-year-old actress of Banpur in Khurda district had come to the city on being selected to play the female lead role in the video album. The shooting of the album continued at different locations till evening of Thursday. After pack-up, the actress was told that the shooting will resume on Friday and accommodated in a house in Bharatpur in the city to take rest for the night.
On the same night, Suraj, the actor playing the male lead role in the album, allegedly raped the minor girl in the rented house and dropped her at Baramunda bus stand, telling her to go home and not disclose the incident to anyone. But the girl did not return to Banpur.
Accompanied by one of her relatives, she went to Bharatpur police station and filed a written complaint against Suraj there.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. They have also launched a manhunt to trace the accused who is absconding.
