US To Sue Google For Abusing Power, Violating Anti-Trust Laws
New Delhi: The US Justice Department has decided to sue Alphabet Inc’s Google for allegedly violating anti-trust laws by abusing its power as the world’s largest search engine, Bloomberg reported.
The lawsuit will accuse Google of crushing “competition to protect its dominance over internet search, where it controls about 90 per cent of the market in the US”.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is preparing a complaint against the company over its conduct in the digital-advertising market, where the giant controls technology used by advertisers to buy and sell display ads across the web.
A group of state attorney generals, including those from Iowa and Colorado, are preparing a separate anti-trust case against Google’s search business.
Google is expected to put up a strong defence.
