Vaccines Working, Most New COVID Cases Mild: Seychelles President

Dubai: Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan on Wednesday said COVID-19 vaccines administered in the country are working, despite a surge in new cases — even among fully vaccinated individuals.

Out of 40 people who required hospitalization, only two are in intensive care, he informed Bloomberg. The number of COVID-19 cases have doubled to 2,486 in a week’s time.

The President informed most cases are mild. “Imagine (what would have happened) if we didn’t have our people vaccinated,” he stated.

The African archipelago has fully vaccinated 62.2 per cent of its population of nearly 1 lakh, the biggest proportion for any nation.
