Jharsuguda: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, showcased its research and technical prowess at the 14th International Bauxite, Alumina & Aluminium Conference and Exhibition (IBAAS 2026) in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
The company presented 24 technical papers covering artificial intelligence, digitalisation, alumina refining, aluminium smelting, sustainability, alloy development and resource recovery, underscoring its focus on manufacturing excellence and next‑generation technologies.
The conference, themed “Global Aluminium Outlook 2030: Secure Resources, Efficient Energy and Value from Wastes”, brought together industry leaders, researchers, policymakers and academia to discuss strategies for resource security, energy efficiency and circular economy approaches.
Vedanta Aluminium CEO Rajesh Kumar, chief guest at the inaugural session, emphasised the need for resilient, technology‑led ecosystems. “As demand accelerates across electric mobility, renewable energy, infrastructure and advanced manufacturing, the focus must shift towards building future‑ready value chains,” he said.
Adding to the discourse, Vibhav Upadhyay, COO (Smelter), Vedanta Aluminium, Jharsuguda, delivered a thought leadership address on aluminium’s role in enabling lightweight solutions, energy efficiency and ESG goals.
Vedanta’s contributions were recognised with three Best Paper Awards: Carbon Anode Quality Improvement in aluminium smelting, Bauxite Residue to Resource in refining, and Improving Age‑Hardening Response of AA6201 Rod in product innovation.
The company’s strong presence at IBAAS 2026 reflects its commitment to advancing technology, sustainability and circularity. Vedanta Aluminium contributes more than half of India’s aluminium output, achieving a record 2.46 million tonnes in FY26.
