Lanjigarh: The Vedanta Limited observed the World Environment Day and organised an event at Vedanta Township at Lanjigarh on Tuesday. Families of the employees and partner agencies planted over 1,000 saplings in presence of company senior management on the occassion.
With the year’s theme, ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, Vedanta launched its ‘Environment Awareness’ rally within the township. More than 400 employees participated in the rally.
The dignitaries leading the initiatives include members from the Senior Management of Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh like Technical Director Philip Campbell, CFO Lanjigarh, Jalaj Malpani, Chief Transformation Officer Sanjeev Kumar, Head HSE Misbah Uddin Khan, Head Projects KA Choudhry, Head Commercial Anil Rai, Head Security Rajeev Ranjan, and Head HR Mahendra Raut.
In another event, Vedanta in collaboration with the Forest Department organised a massive plantation drive in villages namely, Asurpada in Rayagada district, Batelima, Parbatipur and Sindhbahali in Kalahandi district in the presence of local PRI members, community and company officials.
More than 500 saplings were distributed during the programme which included fruit-bearing plants like mango, papaya, lemon and cashew among others. Rayagada Collector Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar, Chief Community Development Officer Harmeet Sehra, BDO, Lanjigarh Basudev Nayak, and other PRI in villages and key opinion makers were present on the occassion.
