Vigilance Arrests Odisha Co-Operative Society Inspector In DA Case In Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: Vigilance on Sunday arrested Banamali Naik, inspector of Co-operative Societies-cum-Secretary, Regulated Market Committee (RMC), Sargipali in the district for possession of disproportionate assets.

On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Naik, Vigilance sleuths conducted simultaneous house searches on his properties at 5 places in the district on Saturday. During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets worth over Rs 2.71 crore were unearthed in the name of Naik:

  • Rs 2.98 lakh in cash
  • One triple-storey building at Talsankara (Kendupada) in Sundargarh worth over Rs 1.11 crore
  • Another triple-storey in same place worth over Rs 47.70 lakh
  • Single-storey at native village Kukuridihi worth over Rs 15 lakh
  • Fixed deposits, bank and insurance deposits worth around Rs 62.27 lakh
  • Gold jewellery weighing 217 gm and silver ornaments of 682 gm worth Rs 10.45 lakhs
  • 4 plots in and around Sundargarh town
  • 2 two-wheelers
  • Household articles worth over Rs 14 lakh

After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, Naik was found in possession of disproportionate assets to the tune
of 172% of his known sources of income. Rourkela Vigilance has registered a case in this connection and Naik has been forwarded to the Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Sundargarh.
