Vijay Mallya Extradition: Supreme Court Seeks Status Report Within 6 Weeks

New Delhi: The Supreme Court asked the government on Monday to submit a status report within six weeks on the extradition of fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed a Bench led by Justice UU Lalit that the UK High Commission said details of pending proceedings cannot be disclosed under the UK laws. The top court then sought the status report.

In the last hearing, the government had argued that while the extradition process of the Indian fugitive businessman was over, certain “secret proceedings” were still pending. “No information from the London High Commission as of now,” the Solicitor General replied when asked how much time is needed, according to Financial Express.

The matter has been posted for next hearing in January third week.
