Virat Kohli First Indian To Score 10,000 Runs In T20s

Dubai: Virat Kohli on Sunday added one more special achievement to his batting feats by becoming the first Indian to breach the 10,000-run mark in T20 cricket.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper, who has announced that he will be relinquishing captaincy of his franchise and Team India at the end of the ongoing IPL and T20 World Cup respectively, smashed 51 off 42 balls in the IPL match against Mumbai Indians on Sunday.

He reached the coveted milestone by pulling Team India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah over square leg for a six. Kohli’s runs have come while batting for India (in T20Is), Delhi (domestic cricket) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (IPL).

In the process, he became the fifth batsman in the world to aggregate 10,000-plus runs in the shortest format of the game. Kohli has scored now scored 10,000* runs in 314 matches.

Universe boss Chris Gayle is top of the heap, followed by Shoaib Malik, David Warner, Kieron Pollard and Kohli.
