Mumbai: After making headlines for facing backlash on arriving late at the Melbourne concert, Neha took to Instagram on Thursday to warn people against judging her without knowing the truth.
“Wait for the truth, you’ll regret judging me so quickly (sad face emoji),” Neha shared on her Instagram stories.
Neha, who was three hours late for her Melbourne concert, apologised and broke down on stage. A section of the audience tried to cheer her up by clapping, but others booed her for making them wait.
Some yelled at her, asking her to go back to her hotel room and take rest, others reminded her that she was not in India where she can make people wait.
In the videos from the concert which went viral, the singer was seen apologising to the audience by saying, “You have been really sweet and patient itni der se aap log wait kar rahe ho (you have been waiting for so long). I hate it. Maine life mein kabhi kisi ko wait nahi karwaya (I’ve never made anyone wait in my entire life). Aap itne der se wait kar rahe ho (You have been waiting for so long). I’m so sorry. You mean the world to me. Aap log itne sweet ho (You people are so sweet). I was so worried about ki kya hoga (I was worried what would happen). It means a lot to me. I’ll always remember this evening forever. But I’ll make sure, aap log jo mere liye itna keemati time nikaal ke aaye ho (that you have taken out your precious time for me), I will make you all dance. Guys, you are really sweet! You have been patient. Itni der se aap log wait kar rahe ho. I hate it, maine life mein kabhi kisi ko wait nahi karwaya hai. Aap itni der se wait kar rahe ho, I’m so sorry! It means a lot to me. I will remember this evening forever. Aaj aap log mere liye itna kimti time nikaal kar aaye ho. Following backlash, Neha’s brother Tony Kakkar defended her by sharing a cryptic post on his Instagram handle.
“Suppose I invite you to my city for an event and take full responsibility for all arrangements–booking your hotel, car, airport pickup, and tickets. Now, imagine you arrive only to find that nothing has been booked. No car at the airport, no hotel reservation, and no tickets. In that situation, who is to blame?” he shared.
In another post, he wrote, “Artist maryada mein rahe, aur janta? (An artist should remain within their limits, but what about the public?).”
