New Delhi: The teaser of the highly-anticipated Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starrer action-drama, ‘War 2’, which was dropped on May 20, has left internet divided.
The teaser shows Hrithik and Jr NTR locking horns with each other and exchanging blows atop trains, planes, and ice shelves.
While a section of netizens is going gaga over the North and South superstars action spectacle, others seem to be unimpressed with it.
One fan commented, “When Hrithik walks, it’s style. When NTR enters, it’s storm. War 2 is FIRE vs THUNDER.”
Another hailed Jr NTR’s voice over and wrote, “Jr NTR Mad voice over. it boost the Teaser.”
Praising Hrithik’s screen presence, another wrote, “That Slow Walk and Triceps … Killer !! Only Hrithik Style.”
However, many felt that the second installment of the movie was a rehash of part 1.
One Reddit user commented, “Utter dogs***, seems like they just rehashed the previous film with worse CGI and same song locations!”
“Very mediocre trailer, this is literally becoming India’s Fast and Furious. Weird green screen and VFX. The poster is average with a collage of so-called ‘cool’ things. The action looks okay, but at times the heavy VFX is very evident and throws me off,” wrote another.
Taking a dig at the trailer, some others expressed that it looked like a ‘very bad’ Mountain Dew advertisement.
“What’s with the low effort, low quality dialogues!? It’s Jr NTR ffs.. they could have made it way more creative and mass filled.. his vintage blockbusters give good examples,” wrote one.
War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is a sequel to the 2019 action thriller War, which starred Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff, and Vani Kapoor in the lead roles. Directed by Siddarth Anand, the high-octane action drama minted over ₹400 crore worldwide. The film is a part of the larger YRF Spy Universe, which also includes blockbusters like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3. War 2 is the sixth YRF Spy Universe film to be released. It will hit the screens in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil on August 14.
Meanwhile, lead actor Hrithik, who is portraying the role of RAW agent Major Kabir Dhaliwal, believes that ‘War 2’ will be an “action spectacle” for the movie buffs.
“War is a really special franchise for me. So, seeing the appreciation that War 2’s teaser is getting, seeing how people are pouring their love for NTR, Kiara, Ayan, for me, and the entire team makes me really happy. It is not easy making films of this scale, and we have given our best to make War 2 an action spectacle for people,” the actor said in a statement.
“I have always been a huge fan of the action genre since I was a kid, and I really have fun whenever I do films like War 2. So, for me, I had the best time reliving Kabir—a character that has given me love from all quarters for years now,” he added.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra, ‘War 2’, the sixth title in YRF’s spy universe, is slated to release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages on August 14, 2025.
