Washington: The United States on Saturday announced an additional $350 million in new military equipment for Ukraine in their fight against Russia’s ‘brutal and unprovoked assault’.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement that the third package for the war-hit eastern European nation will include ‘further lethal defensive assistance’ to help Ukraine address the ‘armoured, airborne, and other threats it is now facing’.
“The US Department of Defense will provide an additional $350 million in immediate military assistance to Ukraine to help defend itself from Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified war,” Blinken said.
The American move came even as Russia said it was ready to work with constructive forces to resolve the Ukrainian problem for the sake of peace and stability.
Ukraine, on the other hand, denied that it was refusing to negotiate a ceasefire with Russia, as was being circulated in some quarters, but also stressed it was not ready to accept ultimatums or unacceptable conditions.
The Ukraine Health minister said earlier on Saturday that 198 civilians, including 3 children, had lost their lives while 1,115 people were wounded.
