[Watch] Bhangra And Dhol Welcome Indian Team On The Field In England

Leicester: Team India are in England to complete unfinished business. They will play a one-off rescheduled Test against England from July 1 to compensate for the cancelled fifth and final match of last year’s series due to COVID concerns.

As skipper Rohit Sharma stepped out to the field with Shubman Gill to bat in the practice match against Leicestershire, the cricketers were welcomed in a unique way, which is seldom seen on a cricket ground.

Bhangra and dhol greeted both teams as dancers in traditional Punjabi attire performing on the edge of the ground.

There is another unique feature in the four-day warm-up game ahead of the Birmingham Test. As many as four players from the Indian team – Cheteshwar Pujara, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and Prasidh Krishna — are playing for Leicestershire.

So the crowd was witness to the rare sight of Bumrah bowling to the likes of Rohit and Virat Kohli in a match involving Team India!

India were leading 2-1 when the final Test at Manchester was cancelled on September 10, 2022. Both teams will have new captains – Rohit and Ben Stokes – in the much-hyped Test match. Last year’s captains Kohli and Joe Root will be playing members of respective teams.
