[Watch] No Social Distancing In Overcrowded Mumbai Local Trains
Mumbai: Local trains, the lifeline of Mumbai, have partially opened for essential workers.
A video of an overcrowded train at Borivali station, recorded on September 23 at 5.22 pm, has gone viral on social media with Twitterati slamming the public for lack of social distancing.

Sir, I don’t take Mumbai locals unless I absolutely have to.(Not taken one since lockdown started, wfh), but what happened is absolutely unavoidable. My sympathies lie with the commuters who have to do this to earn a living. There is not much railways can do too. We need to earn

However, many also pointed out that some people just can’t afford any other means of transportation.
Western Railway chief public relations officer Sumit Thakur told Mid-Day that heavy rains caused a 7-hour disruption between Churchgate-Andheri, leading to cancellation of 263 trains. “Till yesterday, not a single instance of such crowding had been reported,” he said.
