The 5T secretary advised the executing agency to widen the road in front of the academic block of PGIMER, keeping in view the future traffic movement. He expressed satisfaction over the progress of work of Trauma Care and Surgery Complex building and directed to complete it by December 2023.

Later, Pandian met senior officials and discussed the master plan for development of Capital Hospital with 2000 beds and also establishment of Odisha University of Health Science and residential quarters for the staff.

Works Secretary VV Yadav and Health Secretary Shalini Pandit and senior officers were present.

It may be noted that the Capital Hospital has been upgraded as PGIMER for which infrastructural works are currently going on. In May, the state government declared Capital Hospital as an attached teaching medical unit for PGIMER. The PGIMER and Capital Hospital in September got the nod from the National Medical Commission (NMC) to start postgraduate (PG) courses in six specialities with a total of 24 seats from this academic session.
