[Watch] Parrot Lost, Found & Confiscated By Forest Officials; Pet Parents Shed Tears Of Grief

Cuttack: Parrot ‘Coco’, which had created a buzz after it went missing about a fortnight back, has been seized by forest officials a day after it reunited with its owners.

A team of Forest officials reached the house of pet parent, Prof Sasmita Behera, at Tulasipur in Cuttack on Tuesday and took possession of the parrot.

‘Coco’ is an Alexandrine Parakeet and was being raised by Prof Behera for the last one year. It went missing 12 days back only to be traced by a resident of Bhubaneswar on Monday.

The Bhubaneswar man believed that the parrot might be the same as advertised by Prof Behera after it went missing. She had also announced a prize money of Rs 5,000 for the informers about the missing bird.

After learning about the reunion of the pet parrot, which was reportedly found in a distressed condition in Bhubaneswar, Forest officials reached Prof Behera’s house on Tuesday and confiscated the bird.

The bird was staying in the house like their family member and was never locked up in a cage, she had told reporters. Coco fled after seeing some masked persons at their home and did not return home.

The ‘missing posters’ and leaflets as well as advertisements drew the attention of public as well as forest officials.

The happiness of reunion of pet parents did not last long as Forest officials seized the bird.
