Berhampur: The Ganjam administration has shared a video of a returnee expressing satisfaction over the food being provided at a quarantine centre under Purushottampur block.

In the video, the migrant can be seen having rice, dal and chicken curry.

“We are being served chicken and the dal is not watery. The government has asked us to undergo institutional quarantine for 21 days. Considering the quality of food, we will be happy to extended the stay to 30 days,” the migrant added.

About 60 returnees are being kept at this government quarantine centre at the Upper Primary School at Achuli village.

Last week, migrant workers had created ruckus alleging sub-standard food at quarantine centres at Bhatakumarada and Bhabandha in Purusottampur block .

A video in which they were seen throwing food and abusing SHG members also went viral. Another 120 migrant workers fled two quarantine centres – Janata High School and Adarsha Vidyalaya – at Beguniapada panchayat alleging non-supply of food and water. While local police nabbed 50 of them, the rest managed to walk to their respective homes in nearby areas. The Adarsh School at Jamugarada under Jagannath Prasad block, another such facility for migrants, also witnessed group clash over food.
