[Watch] Viral Video Adds New Twist To Tapaswini-Sumit Marital Dispute In Berhampur

Berhampur: A viral video has added a new twist to the ongoing marital dispute between Tapaswini Dash and her husband Dr Sumit Kumar Sahu of Berhampur.

In the video shot at an undisclosed location, Tapaswini can be seen asking her husband to pay Rs 8 lakh and then take a divorce. She also threatens to destroy his family.

Tapaswini had earlier told the media that her father had paid Rs 8 lakh for Sumit’s studies before their marriage. “I will put all the facts before the court,” she said.

Sumit later released an audio, stating that he is mentally disturbed because of the sequence of events in the past few days. He also claimed to have more video and audio proof but is unable to release them since the matter is sub judice.

“Tapaswini has been telling lies. We have not taken or demanded a single rupee from them. I have the proof. The matter will be decided in court. She was always interested in money,” alleged Sumit.

The couple had reportedly registered their marriage at a court in Bhubaneswar on September 7, 2020, without the knowledge of the groom’s parents. The date for solemnising the wedding as per Hindu rituals was fixed for November 22 after the two families met and discussed the situation, but the groom failed to turn up. Following this, Tapaswini sat on a dharna in her bridal finery in front of her groom’s house at Bramha Nagar here.

On Friday, She was back on dharna in front of her in-laws’ place after the SDJM court order her to vacate the Atithi Bhawan. The court had earlier asked them to solve the issue amicably by staying together. However, Sunit moved the Session Court against this order, stating that it was not feasible for them to stay under one roof with two cases pending in the court.

The SDJM court will be hearing her appeal on Rs 50,000 a month maintenance from Sumit, on Monday.
