Mumbai: Actress Rakul Preet, while talking about the chatter around Virat Kohli ‘liking’ Avneet Kaur’s picture, said how ‘jobless’ people are as they even know how many Instagram followers increased for Avneet following the buzz.
“Too sad yaar. That is too sad. Hum bohot vele hain (we are so jobless), that we even know that his like increased 2 million followers for her. How does it matter if he liked or didn’t or it happened by mistake. It often happens on Instagram that you unfollow friends by mistake. It’s so sad that just because he’s a celebrity, what he likes, doesn’t like turns into news,” the actor said during a chat with Shubhankar Mishra on his podcast.
Asked to name a couple she looks up to, Rakul quickly named Anushka Sharma and Virat.
Calling them an ‘inspiring couple’, Rakul said that the ‘whole country’ looks up to them.
Refusing to comment on Virat’s explanation of Instagram’s algorithm, she said, “It’s a very personal decision, I don’t think I have the place to comment on (why he gave an explanation). Everything comes under the scanner when you’re a celebrity. We waste so much time on social media, it’s not needed.”
For the unversed, Virat’s official Instagram handle registered a ‘like’ on one of Avneet Kaur’s post earlier this month.
Soon, screenshots of the interaction was shared by Avneet’s fan page on their Instagram stories, which sparked trolling and debate.
Later, Virat clarified that he didn’t ‘like’ Avneet’s post, it was a mistake by Instagram’s algorithm.
