Lucknow: Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj and cricketer Rinku Singh are set to tie the nuptial knot on November 18 at Hotel Taj in Varanasi, according to reports.
Their engagement ceremony is planned for June 8 with close family and relatives in attendance.
In January, Priya’s father Tufani Saroj, who is a SP MLA from Kerakat, had informed that the two families met in Aligarh and mutually agreed upon the alliance. “Rinku and Priya have known each other for more than a year now. They both liked each other but needed their families’ consent for the relationship. Both families have agreed to this marriage,” the three-time MP and current MLA had said.
Priya (26) is also one of India’s youngest Parliamentarians and represents the Machhlishahr constituency of Uttar Pradesh. She grabbed the spotlight in the 2024 election by defeating BJP’s BP Saroj by more than 35,000 votes. Born on November 23, 1998, in Varanasi, Priya studied at Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi. She graduated with an Arts degree from Delhi University and holds an LLB from Amity University, Noida.
Hailing from Aligarh, Rinku Singh is a key player for the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. He rose to fame after hitting five consecutive sixes off Yash Dayal against Gujarat Titans, chasing 29 runs in the last over, securing a historic victory for KKR in IPL 2023. He is also a member of India’s T20 and ODI squads. The left-hand batter has a decent record in T20Is, scoring 546 runs with a strike-rate 161.06. He, however, has played only two ODI matches so far.
