The tiger census is apparently being done with camera trapping and other latest technologies. Over 500 camera traps have already been installed at different points in Similipal.

The Deputy Director of Similipal Tiger Reserve had paid a visit to the Megha Nursery in the Banasahi area on Tuesday to impart training to the officials.

The training was imparted on the use of digital applications in a session at the office of the Karanjia Forest Division on Tuesday.

It may be noted that the tiger census is done once in four years. According to the 2018 census, there are 28 tigers in the two projects — Similipal Tiger Reserve and Satkosia Tiger Reserve — in Odisha.
