When A Job Fair Changed Bargarh’s Ramakanta Das’ Life
Bhubaneswar: Ramakanta Das, a 29-year-old youth from a middle-class family of Amamunda village under Padampur block in Baragarh district, finally has something to look forward to in life.
Son of a retired government officer and mother a homemaker, he had completed B Tech in 2016.
“I then started looking for a good job, but there were no vacancies. In 2017, my mother fell ill and keep a promise made to her, I got married. At that time, I was very upset and depressed due to poor income of my family. I was not able to contribute anything to help them,” said Ramakanta.
He finally saw light at the end of the dark tunnel.
“I got information regarding a job fair of Reliance Foundation through a WhatsApp message in March 2019. Through that fair, I got the job of an Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) Engineer at Tera Soft Company. My first posting was at Padampur in Bargarh and my monthly salary was Rs 14,000. After six months, I was transferred to Sundargarh district and I am now earning Rs 18,000 a month,” he added.
“I am really thankful to Reliance Foundation for having given me a chance. The job fair changed my life,” said Ramakanta.
