When Satish Kaushik Offered To Marry A Pregnant Neena Gupta

Mumbai: The sudden demise of Satish Kaushik has left the entertainment industry in shock.

The mortal remains of 66-year-old Kaushik, who died after suffering a heart attack while travelling in a car to Gurugram, was brought to Mumbai where he will be cremated later this evening.

Fellow professionals from the industry reached his home to pay their last respects and some of them joined his last journey.

Many took to social media to share stories and anecdotes about the popular actor-director.

Neena Gupta, who shared a very close bond with Kaushik since their college days, shared a heartfelt post on Instagram where she revealed that there was only person who used to call her ‘Nancy’, while he was ‘Kaushikan’ for her.

In her autobiography ‘Sach Kahun Toh’, Neena revealed that Satish had offered to marry her when she was expecting Masaba, whom she had conceived while being in a relationship with West Indian cricketer Vivian Richards.

“Don’t worry, if the child is born with dark skin, you can just say it’s mine, and we’ll get married. Nobody will suspect a thing,” Kaushik had told Neena.

Satish had also opened up and said he did not want her ‘friend’ to feel alone.

“I used to appreciate the fact that a girl at that time decided to have a child out of wedlock. As a true friend, I simply stood by her and gave her confidence. Whatever you are reading in the memoir, it was all an expression of my affection for her as a friend. I was concerned about not letting her feel alone. At the end of the day, that’s what friends are for, right? As mentioned in the book, when I offered to marry her, it was a mix of humour, concern, respect, and support for my best friend in her time of need,” Kaushik was quoted as saying in an interview.

“I told her, ‘Main hoon na, tu chinta kyu karti hai (I am here for you, you don’t have to worry)’. She was moved by the gesture and was in tears. From that day onwards, our friendship grew stronger,” Kaushik had revealed after Neena’s autobiography was published.

Neena went on to raise Masaba as a single mother.
