Mumbai: Ever since the announcement of a biopic on Meena Kumari, there has been speculation over who will essay the role of the legendary actress.
Reports are now doing the rounds that Kiara Advani has been approached to play Meena Kumari on screen, and she has loved the script too.
Sidharth P Malhotra, along with Saregama and the Amrohi family, have secured the rights for ‘Kamal Aur Meena’.
It’s been reported that the filmmakers want to showcase the real-life romance between director-screenwriter Amrohi and the actress.
The filmmakers believe that Kiara can portray the character beautifully due to the “emotional depth and grace it requires.”
In September last year, Siddharth P Malhotra had shared the teaser of ‘Kamal Aur Meena’ along with the caption, “With access to over 500 handwritten letters exchanged between Kamal Sahaab and Meenaji as well as personal journals detailing their life together the insights and research we have in telling this story in invaluable. It’s a profound privilege to direct this incredible true story, though the responsibility is immense.”
Kiara and Sidharth Malhotra are expecting their first child this year. If Kiara signs this film, it would be her first work post pregnancy.
