Patna: In a fresh twist to the family drama of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav has now spoken about moving the Supreme Court over his suspension from the party.
Lalu had recently suspended suspended Tej Pratap from the RJD for six years on ethical grounds after a photograph of his and a woman Anushka Yadav’s photograph surfaced on Facebook. In that post, Tej Pratap had allegedly written that he was in a relationship with the woman for several years. He later said that his Facebook account has been hacked and the post was planted.
“Those who make the mistake of considering my silence as my weakness, do not think that I am unaware of your conspiracies. You started it and I will end it. I am going to break this labyrinth of lies and deceit. Be ready, the truth is about to come out. My role will be decided by my beloved people and the honourable Supreme Court, not by any party or family…,” Tej Pratap posted on X.
Tej Pratap has remained distant from his family since the Anushka Yadav episode and has shared several emotional posts over time. His latest post is being seen by many as a direct warning to both Lalu and the party’s CM face and Tej Pratap’s younger brother Tejashwi Yadav, even as the Bihar Assembly elections approach.
After Tej Pratap’s expulsion from the RJD, Tejashwi had said: “We cannot tolerate such things, we are working and are dedicated to the people of Bihar. If it’s about my big brother, political life and personal life are different. He has the right to make his personal decisions. He is an adult and free to make decisions.”
Tej Pratap’s personal life has been in a mess since 2018, after he filed for divorce from his wife Aiswarya Rai, just a few months after their marriage. Following this, Aishwarya accused him of physical abuse, drug use, and cross-dressing. The case is currently ongoing in the family court.
Aishwarya had reacted strongly after Tej Pratap’s suspension from the RJD, calling it a facade. In a post, she had said: “Now they have suddenly had a social awakening. They are all together. They have not separated… The elections are near, that is why they have taken such a step and created this drama… I got information about my divorce from the media. All the information I got was through the media… I did not know what was going on… Ask them, what was the need to ruin my life? Where was their social justice when I was beaten?… Ask them, what about me?”
Aishwarya is the daughter of Chandrika Rai, who was elected an MLA for six terms. Her grandfather Daroga Prasad Rai was once the chief minister of Bihar.
