Angul: In a ghastly incident, a man allegedly bludgeoned his 70-year-old mother to death at a village in Kishorenagar area of Odisha’s Angul district on Saturday.
As per reports, the incident took place at Ghosara Mugamala Sahi under the jurisdiction of Kishorenagar police station in the district.
The accused, identified as Abani Pradhan, has been taken into custody by the police following the incident.
Sources said that Abani’s mother Pankajini refused to hand over the money she had received as old age pension to him. Furious over the refusal to hand over the money, Abani allegedly bludgeoned her to death with a club. The accused then threw the body in an abandoned well in the backyard of their house.
On getting information about the gruesome incident, the deceased woman’s brother lodged a written complaint with Kishorenagar police.
Based on the complaint, a police team visited the spot and took Abani into custody. Further investigation is underway.
