Sonepur: A young woman sustained critical burn injuries in self-immolation attempt in the district on Friday.
According to police sources, 23-year-old Rohini Bhua of Ganeshpur village under Binka police limits set herself on fire after pouring kerosene in her house. Her family members doused the flame and rushed her to Binka hospital.
Later, Rohini, who sustained burn injuries in most parts of the body, was shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla in Sambalpur district as her condition deteriorated.
However, the cause of self-immolation by the woman has not been confirmed. The police have rushed to the village and started investigation.
