Bhubaneswar: Burnt remains of a woman, who went missing on April 26, was found near a canal close to Kendupali under Banarpal police limits in Odisha’s Angul district on Sunday.
A native of Lodhajhari village under Kaniha block in Angul, she was working in a private company in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, the incident took place on the day when she was to board a train from Talcher railway station for Bhubaneswar. However, she missed the train and then took an auto to Talcher Road. She went missing shortly thereafter and her phone was found switched off.
Following which, her family lodged a complaint with railway police.
Police have seized the auto on the basis of CCTV footage but the driver and another youth, who was seen travelling in the auto, are absconding. A scientific investigation team and sniffer dogs were also deployed at the scene to assist in the forensic examination.
