Kendrapada: A woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into Brahmani river along with her five-year-old daughter at Sorisada village under Aul police limits in Kendrapada district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Chirasmita Das (32) and her daughter Palak.
On being informed about the incident, local police rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies from the river.
Though investigation into the matter is underway, locals suspect that the woman might have taken the extreme step over family feud. “The exact cause of death can be ascertained only after we receive the postmortem report,” a police officer said.
