Mumbai: At the Mumbai audio launch of ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’, Yash praised Kiara Advani’s professionalism and dedication, recalling how he and director Geetu Mohandas took extra care of the actress during the film’s shoot.
Yash revealed that they stayed around Kiara like “bouncers” and “bodyguards” on set as she continued filming the demanding gangster drama during her pregnancy.
“How do I say, I think she is such a professional actor. She came into this film; I was a little worried because it’s too demanding. The first time we spoke, she said, ‘Have you ever done a rain sequence and all?’, I said, ‘Never, but it’s going to be good and easy’. Then I saw her,” Yash said.
He added, “But the way she dedicated herself, and I must say, even after she was pregnant, she came with 100% commitment. I was more worried; Geetu was more worried. We were like bouncers/ bodyguards on set; we used to take care of her, but she has really dedicated herself. Thank you, Kiara; this one is special.”
Kiara had earlier faced backlash on social media following the release of the song ‘Tabaahi’, over its intimate scenes. However, after the trailer was released, several fans praised her performance.
At the film’s trailer launch in Bengaluru last week, Yash also addressed the criticism surrounding Kiara and defended the actress amid the backlash.
“And what you have to go through as an actor, unfortunately, don’t care (about it). Whatever you believe in, you should do, and people will celebrate, people will appreciate. It’s just that we are a little ahead of the times,” he said.
‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’ is a gangster drama led by Yash in a dual role, with Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria and Nayanthara in pivotal roles.
The film marks Yash’s return to the silver screen after the 2022 blockbuster ‘KGF Chapter 2’.
Promising a dark blend of action and drama, the trailer hints at a complicated father-son equation and a high-stakes violent showdown while keeping the main plot largely under wraps.
Shot in both Kannada and English, ‘Toxic’ will also arrive in dubbed Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam versions.
Produced by Yash’s Monster Mind Creations and Venkat K Narayana’s KVN Productions, the film is set to release worldwide in theatres on August 26.
