Yellow Alert For Cuttack & 8 Districts This Afternoon; Humidity To Prevail In Odisha Till Aug 15
Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for nine districts of Odisha, including Cuttack, till 3.45 pm on Friday.
Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm accompanied by lightning in some parts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, and Cuttack. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The MeT office Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Puri and Nayagarh on Friday. Light to moderate rain or thundershower may occur at many places in North Interior Odisha and at a few in remaining parts of the state.
Similar alert has been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar ,Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, and Boudh during the subsequent 24 hours. The IMD has also forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower at many places in North Coastal Odisha ,Keonjhar ,Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and at a few places in rest of Odisha.
On August 13, thunderstorm with lightning may occur at one or two places in Keonjhar Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, and Rayagada. Light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely in North Odisha and at one or two places in the southern districts of the state.
There is no warning thereafter, though the state is likely to experience rain for next two days.
The state likely to experience humidity with no heavy rain warning and temperature hovering around 34 to 35 degree celsius till August 15, according to the weather agency.
The state has received 648.1 mm against its normal value of 686.8 mm till August 11 in this monsoon season. “During the period; 10 districts were deficient, 03 in excess & rest 17 districts were in the normal category,” it tweeted.
