Jharsuguda: A youth was allegedly beaten to death by his friend following a dispute in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district on Monday.
As per reports, Baladev Chand and his friend Chaitanya Rout of Banjari village under Lakhanpur police station in the district had gone for drink to a shop on the outskirts of the village. While drinking, they were engaged in an argument over some issue.
The argument escalated into heated exchange of words. In a fit of rage, Chaitanya attacked Baladev with a wooden stick. Sustaining serious injuries and bleeding profusely, Baldev fell down unconscious while Chaitanya fled.
The villagers rushed Baldev to the local Community Health Centre. But the doctors of the hospital declared him brought dead.
On being informed, a team from Lakhanpur police station went to the hospital and sent the body for post-mortem.
While the police have registered a case and started investigation, Chaitanya is absconding.
